Table top sales at Wellington Park
#1
Has anybody been lately? Are they doing any better? We had thought of having a table ourselves, but when we went to have a look there were hardly any people looking or buying. Such a shame. Does anyone know of any others in the area?

Top Table ? Is that the Uk term for what is known in North America as a Sunday brunch buffet ?

No Alan it's a car boot sale without the car. Also one at St Paul's in Farington Moss every 4th saturday of the month I think, it's advertised outside the church, the park hall one gets really busy, don't know about the St Paul's. There's a mobile number listed for anyone wanting to book a table there.

So, whatever's for sale is in one location !

We have dozens of 'garage sales ' usually on Saturdays , from spring to late Autumn , individual people set up a stall on their driveway /garage , sometimes advertise in local paper, and signs are often posted nearbye .

Many people attend these sales each Saturday on a regular basis .

That's right Alan, the car boot sales can get rather large, a big one every Sunday I think at Burscough gets advertised locally. I know of someone who buys from local charity shops then sells the items on at a profit .

The Park Hall one is only a fraction of what it used to be. I think the Poundstretcher type shops are selling things so cheaply now that people just don't want to frequent car boot sales and the like. I hate the very big ones anyway. We went to the one at Clitheroe and it is enormous. Or was. I'm afraid garage sales just don't take off in this country, apart from the odd occasion. It would be no use for us as we are in a small culdesac off side roads.

Crikey Park Hall must have been huge then, it was certainly a room full and very busy on Sunday.

Banks or Burscough are two of your best car boots - fairly near but watch out for fake £20 notes .
