Welcome to the forum, Kath. :-)

I went past Thornton Drive and Fylde Avenue this afternoon ( they lead on to Bispham Avenue which is closest to the site ( other side of the River Lostock, it was vile the smell. As you say Kath, must be spores of some kind which aren't good news for anyone, let alone anyone with respiratory problems.

Further to Looney Magnet's entry on 5 March when she includes the interesting information on Australia and Germany from memory I recall that the Australian Plant at Eastern Creek was sold to (I think) an Arabian company, but the plant is still open. Global Renewables were not the owners of the two German Plants that closed BUT were in some form of partnership with the owners or developers of those sites (ISKA?) which licensed them to use the processes developed there in Australia and elsewhere. Those processes may since have been developed further but certainly the anaerobic digestion type system has many links back to Germany. Dr Whally may not have told any lies but you might think that he was economical with the truth.

Hi all!

I'm new here - first post. Came to look at this website as I'm moving to Leyland at the start of next month (can't wait!). I'm currently a city centre Preston girl, but have worked in Farington for two years now, and came across this thread feeling the need to post because the last few months of these two years have seen me choking on the horrible smell coming from the adjacent business park to my own office.

Each day it causes breathing problems, and has been burning/damaging my nostrils. I've also had undiagnosable headaches (albeit for half a year rather than a few months), which I get severely, day in, day out with dizziness and nausea. I'm beginning to wonder if the two are linked?

Welcome Cheryl.I would visit my GP if I got headaches like you describe ! The smell is a burning issue at the moment in Leyland and more and more people each day are being informed as to what that smell is that they have been experiencing day in day out ! I hope your new home isnt in the smell zone for your sake ! Unfortunately mine is ! [xx(]

Welcome Cheryl, hope your move to Leyland goes well. I presume the smell is from the recycle centre? We are assured it will get sorted though as afr as I'm concerned it should never have been allowed to happen in the first place. It's diabolical building it so close to residential premises.
