Noel, you and your wife are talking sense with your suggestions.
Surely, it's commonsense, that the residents should be the first priority, in all this. The Farington Community will still benefit - there will be enough funds left.
I envy you for getting out before all this. I'm hoping that enough people will start complaining to whoever is in charge of the money. jono

Well Said. I am also one of the affected residents who once had a desirable home which has now been made virtually worthless by the monstrosity virtually in my rear garden. I am a very early riser and let me tell you at 5am or 6am the smell is unbearable,. I cannot understand in this day and age why Global Renewables, LCC and the Enviroment Agency expect the residents to put up with this stomach churning SMELL, until they rectify the problem. The site should have been shut down immediately no ifs or buts. Why should we be unable to open our windows and hang out washing and use our gardens because we have to wait for the problem to be solved. We have already indured years of disruption whilst the plant was built and now within months of it opening we have to endure more worry and stress. £40,000 compensation is the very least we deserve. Roll on summer I DONT THINK !

Welcome to the forum, Pollyanna. I'm just sorry that it's been the awful stink at the bottom of your garden which has brought you to the forum. I really hope this is sorted out soon for all those affected. It's beyond disgusting that companies can get away with this sort of pollution.

Welcome to the forum Joanne. Unfortunately I agree with you. Neighbouring residents should insist the place closes down until the fault is rectified. I think stronger action is needed but everyone needs to be of the same mind-frame. Maybe a meeting of residents to discuss stronger action? I'm a mile away so not as involved as you but I smell it all over Farington and Leyland. It is a disgrace.

The only money that would have been handed out would have been of the " Backhander " variety trust me ! Some people have lined their pockets with this one and there is more where that came from for future bungs !! [xx(]

Just got a leaflet through the door from the local conservatives stating the severe penalties imposed will go to the benefit of the local residents for a community project,The fairest way to benefit ALL if no compensation is forthcoming would be to pay an equal percentage of the residents council tax bills with it.

I Agree with the back handers, councillors are in it for themselves. Residents of Farrington Moss & surrounding area will see nothing of this money. We had to fight to get council tax bandings changed so there is no hope in getting anything else.

However i do find it strange that more people are complaining now about the smell than actually complained about the building of the monstrosity itself. Maybe if we had the same number of complaints 2-3 years ago as there are now the thing wouldn't have been built in the first place.[Sad!]

Welcome to the forum Cath. I'm not sure more people are complaining, there were plenty complaining before planning permission was given including South Ribble Borough Council. I don't think it would have made a scrap of difference if the whole of Leyland, Farington and Farington Moss had complained, the council were determined to have it there. They didn't give a monkey's about our objections.
Meanwhile the smell was horrendous in Woodville St. while I was picking my grandchildren up from school.

The reason more people are complaining now about the smell is that it has spread all over the South Ribble area as far as Higher Penwortham ,Houghton and beyond not just Farington Moss and is affecting more people who naively thought because they did not have the plant behind there homes they would not be affected and did not realise the impact this would have on the whole of South Ribble. Shame on LCC for allowing it to be built.

Why are we all so placid - yes our homes are worthless - everyday is pretty unbearable - there is no joy in a bright sunny day anymore - we dare not invite anyone to visit as we are ashamed of the smell. There MUST be something we can do. Asthma getting worse have had medication doubled - the future looks bleak.

Welcome, knoc01 and Rusack - as, I said to Pollyanna, it's a shame about the circumstances which have brought you here, but we are glad to have you on the forum.
Has anyone affected by this smell contacted the media? I'm sure a newspaper or the BBC would be interested.
