LONDON, Feb. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- A survey revealed on Sunday that some 40 percent British Muslims want sharia law, the Islamic law, introduced into Muslim predominant areas in the country.

The Islamic law is used in large parts of the Middle East, including Iran and Saudi Arabia, and is enforced by religious police. Special courts can hand down harsh punishments which can include stoning and amputation.

I wonder what punishment is given for murder?

Well that sounds right for the UK. Cut off his hand for stealing and lets start stoning prostitutes.

I suppose it beats burning people who might be witches.

Someone once said, "Let him who is without sin cast the first stone".

I have just come back from visiting friends in Dubai and I asked about crime out there. Apparently there is'nt that much. The prisons are quiet as no-one dares comit any crimes. A life is for a life and if you get caught stealing your fingers are cut off. For adultry you will get stoned to death. Seems quite harsh but seems to work, not like our prisons with colour tv's, dvd's, games rooms etc.
I felt safer there than I did today walking round Preston this afternoon.

Our new bus station has a notice on show which says "DNA - if you spit, we will catch you and prosecute you." This in the Spitting capital of South Yorkshire. We`re going to have the "dustbin police" monitoring what we put in the bin - any volunteers to join the "Spitting Police", there`s a lot of scope here. By the number of school children spitting in the street, I think it must be a Curriculum Subject at our local Grammar Schools, as well on the one about using obscene language in the street, and smoking. Ah!!! the kids of today - tomorrows Leaders!!!!!

I read on the BBC website this week where a man held his 3month old baby over the gasfire and burnt his face then having done that he went on to bash his head in. He got 22years,to me thats way to easy. He should not be allowed to live and his wife got 3years now tell me where is the justice for that child.

With regard to the lack of capital punishment in the UK. How did that law come into force, ie: Did 'the people' get to vote on it, or was it introduced in the Commons and went through those channels as many new laws do ?
