I've smelled the odours still on occasions when I've passed the plant. I'm positive the residents of Bispham Avenue will not agree with that statement. They are a nuisance neighbour to them simply because they are there, humungous buildings right at the bottom of their gardens.

I've been along that section of the M6 a fair few times of late and haven't noticed the pong for a while. But that could be just that the wind is blowing in the opposite direction.

Up to £100,000 a year will be donated to the community plagued by bad smells leaking from a Leyland waste plant. Lancashire County Council has confirmed it will hand out the cash to residents of Farington that have been affected by odours from Farington Waste Technology Park. The plant is jointly run by Global Renewables Lancashire and Lancashire County Council.

Has anyone noticed the new smell in town ? This new smell is actually worse than the last one and is really repugnant ! I just hope it is farmers muck spreading because if it is the recycling plant then it has got to go ! [

I commented yesterday when I went past it, not sure if it was from the site or not but it certainly couldn't be smelt until I got up to the site.

I noticed something when we were on the M6 the weekend before last. Just as we were getting to think bad smells in the Leyland area were a thing of the past....

Its definitely the plant because I could smell the same odour x 10 when I drove through the industrial estate yesterday !

Bosses at a waste plant plagued by smells have offered to buy neighbours air fresheners to stop the stink.
Residents living near Farington Waste Technology Park in Leyland have been complaining about unpleasant, musty smells coming from the plant since the beginning of the year.
At a public meeting, waste bosses admitted they were “bemused” by the stench – and even suggested they could provide cleaning products to help compensate.
One resident, who lives on nearby Windermere Avenue, told the meeting: “I spent £10 yesterday on Febreze (air freshener) in Tesco. Why should I have to spend that much money?
“When will I get compensated for this?
“Some people can’t even open their windows because of the smell. Something needs doing now.” David Brewer, chief executive of Global Renewables Lancashire, which runs the plant as a joint venture with Lancashire County Council, replied: “We will provide materials for cleaning purposes. We will make some materials and products available. We haven’t done it in the past because we thought it might attract as much negative publicity as positive, but we are willing and will talk to residents.
“What we don’t do is get into paying individual compensation.”
Speaking after the meeting, resident Joan Langford, who lives on Stanifield Lane, said: “This is just a joke. We were given assurances that we would not have problems with smells.

This place is up for sale but they have to balance the books in order to sell ! They are running at a loss and so it may take a long time !!
