I went past Balshaws this afternoon, dropping my grandson off who lives nearby off Canberra Road. The pupils were coming out of school. The boys weren't too badly dressed, ties a bit scruffy, knots loose etc. a bit like we were way back when, but the girls, they looked like something out of St. Trinians. Some had flowers in their hair, skirts were barely decent, they wouldn't have been allowed in back when I attended. I was appalled. From what I recall skirts had to cover the knees, these hardly covered bits a lot higher up! What's happened to dress code at our old school. I feel like Mr. Grumpy but if I had a daughter dressing like that!! well she wouldn't

Almost makes one wish one was back at school !! Noel back in the day you would have loved it, dont be so priggish !

We tried our best in the 60s to get our skirts shorter... used to roll the the waistbands over a few times.
I was told off for wearing patterned tights. And for giving a fruit pastel to one of the electricians doing the rewire.
Of course Noel wouldn't let his daughter dress like that- he remembers what HE was like, haha!

OOh Caroline I had a real pash for one of those electricians doing the re-wire. Should have shortened my skirt too. takes me back- happy days. Sandy

Was he called Terry and had dark hair, Sandy? If so, he and his co-worker used to give three of us a lift to school some mornings. Ooh, missus!!

You ladies are disgusting.[:p]

The one I gave the sweetie to was an old bloke (probably around 30!). It was Mylroy who told me off, really I think for deigning to stoop so low as to communicate with a Worker...but my Dad was an electrician!!
How desperate we were for a bit of excitement.... no wonder that I used to hitch down to London at every available opportunity!
