Well the Hamilton's got off. They got a speeding ticket but couldn't remember which one of them was driving.

Appeared over the weekend, traffic calming road bumps, humps whatever on CROSTON Rd. sited at the Earnshaw Bridge end, with a narrow section to permit traffic one way only at a time .
Also speed limit reduced to 30mph along most of the length, not before time.

Hi David,

You can ask for your day in court, then when you go there they produce film that you couldn't see before you went to court, then you get a bigger fine that what you would have had to pay if you didn't go to court.

It's the same with people caught using a mobile phones while driving, it's a small fine, but if you challenge it then they can increase it to something like £1000 in court(I can't remember the figure but the maximum is not less than that)

You can get a map of our region showing where all the speed cameras are!

Same here Caroline. They are in the `Mario `site we were looking at. I don`t think that the one on Fox Lane does much trade - goodness knows who thought of placing one there.

On the subject of dangerous road usage my pet hate on British roads is the casual way that kerbside parking facing the flow of traffic is allowed.
This means that when one pulls away from the kerb it is against the traffic flow and it is difficult to see what other traffic is approaching if a car or 'truck' thats a wagon in England - is parked in front of you. It is impossible to see what is coming until the driver has pulled out into the road far enough to see past the obstruction, by which time the approaching car has to brake or take avoiding action.
How many cyclists and motorcyclists have been killed or become victims of this incredibly dangerous manouever will never be known, but many thousands must have died over the years. I feel very strongly about this as I am a cyclist and motor-cylist and whenever I come back to visit I see this dangerous practise every day.
The police seem to have no idea it is even a danger to people.
In Australia this is very much an illegal action and fines and demerit points apply. So no one parks against the traffic flow and therefore must drive forward to where they can take a right turn if they have to go in the opposite direction. Sadly life is still cheap in Britain.

Hi Mick and welcome. In this neck of the woods, to see a policeman on patrol is an event. To try to understand the mentally of drivers who park illegally is beyond many.

"No parking" zones are an invitation for illegal parking, parking on the footpath is the norm, so we walk in the roadway. Double yellow lines are a laugh, car break-ins are an everyday occurrance, no insurance is standard practice, an apology clears the sheet. I gave up driving when I was 73 after 55 years clean, and never regretted it.

We have good bus services, good trains Oh! we also have feet, so we use them.

Welcome Mick, My ultra pet hate is when the people you describe just sit there with headlamps full on - taxis being a prime example.

Spitfire - I used to live in Mill Street Leyland many years ago and as a young driver (waaaay back then) I was parked in a little used road opposite my house. I had left my headlights on as I was leaving in a minute or two. I have never forgotten the police car pulling up alongside me and telling me to switch them off!! Never done it since!!
I totally agree with you - they are a pain and a danger.

The speed bumps on Croston Road hsve now reached from Earnshaw Bridge up to the garage half a mile away and still more humps are being set up. They are quite big ones as well. If it stops the idiots who insist on driving 2 feet behind you at 30 MPH it will keep me a whole lot happier though it's a pity they just can't rerespect the law and force the council into this action.
