What makes Britain great? - LDunlop76 - 18-May-2007

I've been away from home for a few days and I've been catching up on the papers. We've been knocking Britain on here recently, so this article caught my eye:
What makes Britan great?

The prime minister says that this country is the 'greatest nation on Earth' and Brits are 'special'. American-born writer Tim Dowling couldn't agree more - and here's why

These guys surely will think Britain to be great, but how come they were released from custody ?

Squatters rights, another guy who thinks Britain is great , twenty years of idleness rewarded ,

A working person can save for the whole of a lifetime and accumulate little, whereas this idle bum sits on his behind in a filthy shack and is rewarded with a piece of land of market value two million pounds !

It's called the Human Rights Act Alan. Judges follow it to the letter. This caused John Reid to comment that trying to deal with potential terrorists was like having one hand tied behind your back. Unelected judges have more control over our country than government officials such as the home secretary. It can't be right. JR is talking about opting out of the act. That'll upset Cherie, you couldn't see Teflon Tony doing that.

Similar here Noel, came across a case last week , a headmaster invited the police to check out his school for drugs, the police dog found a bag, it had 15 pounds of drugs in it , the student was arrested , then two seperate courts released him on the grounds that his 'human rights' had been violated by the police intruding into his privacy, can you believe that ? The justicies are certainly irresponsible !
Is western society going /gone mad !

Canadian forces have arrested terrorists in Afghanistan and reportedly passed them to the Afghan government forces rather than sending them to a comfortable life as sustanance for the lawyers/justice system here in Canada. The do-gooders here are now up in arms saying that by handing them to the Afghans the 'human rights' of the terrorists have been violated !

Another huge home office cock up, why can't they realise that the best control order is imprisonment, and that no matter what type of reporting control is handed out, it can't stop dangerous terrorists from disapearing, only to reapear with another possible bomb attempt. The home office needs to be re built from the ground up or abolished alltogether, JR needs to resign immediately too.

I don't think it's the home office Mick, I think it's the judiciary who amongst other things refused to allow the 90 days detention of suspected terrorists quoting the European Rights Act.
Much as I dislike our MPs, I do feel for them, not only do they have to fight the terrorists and criminals but also the judges who seem hell bent on preventing them from doing so.

Yes I think you have hit the nail on the head Noel. I'm begining to believe that western democracy will ultimately be destroyed through the human rights for all terrorists philosophy of our judges and rights campaigners - That allows the most ardent and openly hostile opponents of democratic rights and laws,to do as they please and be released back into the society they so much want to destroy.
I have lived and worked in many other countries including all of the Indian sub continent countries - India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan and I can safely say that to try and overthrow elected governments and blow up people on public transport in any of these countries would result in immediate death penalties and no appeals. Perhaps thats why these terrorists find our system of justice such a joke and are not at all daunted from trying to create public fear through their terrorist networks in Britain and other free countries.
It will take years to eradicate them and perhaps it will be impossible until our laws, and the fools who interpret them on behalf of these terrorists, are changed to laws that represent the huge majority of the population, instead of a minority that want their own skewed view of sharia law to prevail as the new system of western civilisation.

I think your words are spot on . Trojan Horse springs to mind.

What makes Britain Great ,that's a good question, in the view of proven bomb makers and potential terrorists ,releasing them back into society and expecting them to report to the police ,I'm sure that their gratitude for such a system that allows them to continue to 'do their stuff', is immesurable , its a reasonable assumption that they think Britain is exceedingly great !

Then, when the government attempts to deal with the rediculous 'Human Rights' laws that demand such a release ,we have turmoil in parliament ,oh no they say , we can't infringe on human rights can we,that wouldn't be fair , never mind the fact that these raskals are laughing at us all and are free to conduct their evil acts at will !

But why worry, most Brits are more interested in the fact that David Beckham is to get another 50 million pounds by moving to LA.,that is of course until the next time the bombs go off , then they'll demand all kinds of measures, well, for a week or two at least !

What's happened to the basics of common sense ,of looking after our societies, values, and peoples of good intent , rather than caving in to extremists and terrorists, is there any hope at all ?

Come on the likes of Bill Rigby , now there was a great fellow, he used to say what he thought , often I would respectfully disagree with his opinions, but he had his own valid opinions, he conversed , we seem to be lacking in that regard these days !

Perhaps this forum is not interested ,more inclined to irrevalancies ?
