name of shop - eils - 08-Nov-2007 the chemist on towngate opposite the florists, me thinks, 1966 approx thanks - anacortesdamp - 08-Nov-2007 Baker's. The owner was Ronald Baker who live on Balcarres Road just north of Crawford Avenue in one of the big semi-detached houses. Mr. Baker retired in the 1960's and sold the business. I don't remember the new name. The shop moved into the block of small shops next to the Co-Op, in the first Towngate "renewal" program. I don't know if it survived Tesco. Its still there in the block they didn't demolish to build Tescos, I bought something or other there last time I was in Leyland a year ago.
