In the late 1960's, there was a rumour that McDonalds was using earthworms in its burgers. The founder of the company, Ray Croc went on TV in a nationwaide commercial. He said "I buy beef by the hundreds of tons a year for 25 cents a pound. Earthworms sell at bait shops for $4 a pound. Which do you think I use?"
On a business trip to Switzerland, I ate at a fancy steak restaurant one night. Most of the dishes were in the $50 range, except for one at about $20, called "pferdstek". I didn't go for it, but checked my English/German dictionary back at the hotel to find that "pferd" was the German for "horse".

When we used to holiday in France horse was a common meat. I can't why it upsets people if it's in a burger. Pigs are supposed to be very intelligent and can train as pets but they taste very nice as bacon on a butty.

I have just got some Tesco burgers out of the fridge and they're off !!
A guy up our road ate some and ended up in hospital but I believe he is in a stable condition ! [
