New FIFA proposals !! - David - 08-Jan-2005 FIFA are to consider changing the offside law so that only a player within the penalty, and in an offside position, can be ruled as offside. [ ]And, a player brought down with a so called professional foul, having a clear cut chance to score, would be awarded a penalty kick, regardles of his position, ie: in the penalty area or not . [} ] The offending player would be issued a yellow card rather than being sent off [B)]I can't see any of these getting the OK [?][?][?] - Martin - 08-Jan-2005 Wouldn't this rule change make teams more defensive? - noel - 08-Jan-2005 I think it's time FIFA stopped fiddling with the rules. The one where there has to be clear daylight between the last but one defender and the attacker before it's offside doesn't work. Nor does the one where the injured player has to go off after treatment only to be allowed straight back on again. What is that all about? Maybe they would be better served getting the refs and linesman to have their eyes tested every season. <[:-)--- - David - 08-Jan-2005 I like that last bit Noel. LOL - David - 08-Jan-2005 quote: Originally posted by Martin Wouldn't this rule change make teams more defensive? Do you mean like the present leaders of the EPL, Chelsea. I think they've won nine game 1-0. It would be tough to get more defensive than that Martin [ ][8D]
- Dave L - 13-Jan-2005 I think FIFA should be making more of an effort to stop players feigning injury, which is a blight on the game. The refs don't seem to be doing much about it and as most if not all premier league matches in Europe appear to be televised, offending players could be suspended on video evidence if games are viewed by a panel of "experts". Might as well start at the top. - noel - 13-Jan-2005 quote: Originally posted by Dave L I think FIFA should be making more of an effort to stop players feigning injury, which is a blight on the game. OK Man U and Nistlerooy and Rooney are prime examples, but last week Fuller of Portsmouth dropped like a stone in the penalty area clearly no contact, then went chasingthe ref complaining he didn't get a penalty. Result, play on, not booked. I know Fuller is a diver from his time with North End. If a player dives and the ref waves play on because he knows he dived, surely he is forced by the laws of the game to yellow card. Another instance is tugging of shirts which appears to be part of the game now. WHY?? - accy stan - 13-Jan-2005 Noel, because lots of the players today are not men, they,re a load of pansies who try to con the ref. That,s where the problem lies, the refs should take much stronger action against divers and shirt pullers but they must get the backing of those old fogies at the F.A. - noel - 13-Jan-2005 I stumbled across this rather good looking team, I bet this Burnley team give the ref some problems of ID. http://www.muckle.plus.com/images/Dingles.jpg |
