When you've got hooligans attacking fireman attending the scenes of fires it doesn't surprise me. Mostly football hooliganism has been stamped out but you do get the odd case where not enough police were on duty, usually the pre match pints fuel the trouble. No problems at Deepdale anyway.

How come drunken yobs seem to be accepted as 'the way it is' and yet one puff of a cigarette and everyone is up in arms. I havent heard of police or firemen being attacked by someone smoking one too many.

You raise a good point John, why is it that being drunk can be used as an excuse, and why does Britain produce so many yobs ,could it be that there are too many pubs in the the towns of the UK ?

Just a quickie - Football hooligans in Sheffield.
I have been told that at the local derby the other day between Sheff.United and Sheff Weds there was a little bit of trouble which resulted in a policeman being hospitallized (?) He was apparently seized by some of the "supporters" and swung round by his riot helmet which was firmly attached to his head and wouldn`t come off. Result a severely strained neck condition. Perhaps the crowd didn`t like the "cavalry charge" by the mounted police, backed by baton wielding "troops" behind, at Wadsley Bridge by the ground. I believe the match ended in a draw, but who cares?

From today's Daily Telegraph- " A teenager who used the F-word while chatting with friends in a park has been handed an £80 fine by a police officer for anti-social behaviour."
Evidently there's a new law against such profanities in the uk, is this to the good ?
I think so, however there must be multitudes who could well bankrupt themselves !
I've never heard profanities elswhere on the scale of the uk, I guess it goes with yobbery, at least the public funds should prosper !
