Great stories to read -I understand experts now say there are signs of water on the Moon however miniscule the drops are.

On a similar subject: Liquid water was found inside a 4.5-billion-year-old meteorite in 1999, giving scientists their first look at extraterrestrial water.

I know NOTHING of astrophysics. However it is inconceivable that out of the trillions of planets we are the ONLY ones to have a life form. It just isn`t possible

I must confess I know nothing about space, except I can usually detect Venus out there. What baffles me is how did it all start, and why?

Are any Forum members aware that here in Preston at UCLA we have one of the finest Astrophysics Faculties in the world?

I regularly attend the lectures presented by the Faculty and free tickets are available from the University for all memebers of the public to attend.

Should anyone be interested I will be happy to post the lecture schedules as, and when, available.

Did anyone spot the not so deliberate mistake?

I meant, of course, UCLAN and not the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA)[:I]

Martin, I will be happy to post the next Astrophysics lecture as soon as the new schedule becomes available. I can assure you that they are well worth attending.

We have, in the past, also been priviledged to have some of the most famous Russian Cosmonauts, and Space Medicine experts, lecturing at UCLAN who also brought with them many interesting items used by the Cosmonauts in Space including pre-packed foods.

For those of us brought up on a diet of Flash Gordon and Ming the Merciless ongoing exploration of our Galaxy is fascinating stuff.
Some interesting articles on Google and in some newspapers today about the European funded Herschel Space Observatory with its UK led Spire Camera and the German Pacs Camera.
Sorry don't ,rather can't, do links but as far as I can understand Scotland was partially involved in some of this which goes far beyond Hubble in its capacity.
It is able to show through clouds of dust stars being born and their stages of formation- the colours are brilliant.
Incidentally I also read that the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland is due to be in action again anytime.
Must be about a year ago that images were flashed round the world when it was turned on but then information fizzled out when things went wrong.
Just an interested layperson[Smile]
