New mayors take the chains
Coun David Suthers is the 37th mayor of South Ribble.
He ran Junction Garage in Longton with his wife Madge, before retiring in 1999.
He became a councillor for Little Hoole & Much Hoole Ward in the same year and he also serves on the board of New Progress Housing, has been a governor at Little Hoole Primary School for 18 years, and is a past president of South Ribble Rotary Club.
He said: “The last 12 months as deputy mayor and mayoress has provided us with good training and we are very much looking forward to the year ahead. It is a great honour to be carrying out this civic duty and we hope to meet a lot of interesting people and raise money for our chosen charities.”
