a healthy NEW YEAR to all contributers.
A small historical point perhaps, Brian mentioned high noise levels in Berry's cotton mill, the noise was iconic of that industry. the workers refered to their method of communication as ME-MO, a combination of lip-read and body/sign langauge. As a small boy, I watched numerous 'old' retired female members of the family, once workers in THE FACTORY, sat across a room, ME-MOING, grimacing and finger moving to each other among the hustle and bustle of children pets and grown-ups, when I asked, I was told, 'MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS' go and play. My Antie Nellie 94, once of Berry's talked to me about it. Apparently it was a sign lanquage used across the area in different factories and mills with only minor variations
