I've only just discovered this gem of a thread! Underground tunnels? What an interesting town Leyland is! I really ought to travel those 2 junctions up the M6 and see for myself!
I tend to be sceptical as regards ghosts, UFO's etc., but so many people have had weird experiences.... must be something in it. There are lots of spooky tales from this neck of the woods too. The local pub is supposedly haunted and just a mile over the hill is the cottage of a 17th century witch. She lived with her granddaughter, who had a white rabbit as a pet. They were attacked by two men, who killed the rabbit as a familiar, so the witch cursed them. Now if anyone catches sight of a ghostly white rabbit in the fields, they're in for bad luck. Just after we moved here, a window cleaner saw the white rabbit and the next day fell off his ladders and broke several bones - it made the local press! Ever since, when I drive down the lanes by that cottage, I keep my eyes firmly on the road in case that rabbit is in the field!!
Anyone interested in UFO's might want to visit the UFO & Alien exhibition in Blackpool. The man who runs it is well over the top (don't ask questions or you're in for a lecture!! ) and some of the exhibits are a bit cheesy, but there's some very interesting stuff there too - lots of mind, body, spirit features.
