Manuka Honey
#1
Manuka Honey dressings are being used on my wife's foot to try and heal the hole that's been left in it following her hospitalization.
It has excellent healing properties ( claimed) and is even used in treating some patients recovering from cancer surgery. I had never heard of it beore but if you want to read about it's use you'll find it here.

Manuka known commonly as Tea Tree because the early settlers in New Zealand made a brew of the leaves is well known for its healing properties.
Tea tree oil is used in a lot of preparations and is a good antiseptic for all sorts of problems. The Maori used to wrap Manuka leaves round wounds and bees feed on the lovely white sometimes pink flowers commonly found there, to produce their honey.
All honey is supposed to be good for many ailments but Manuka honey is specially valued.
I hope it does the trick Noel.
My niece had the same operation and it is a slow and painful process.
All the best to Margaret for a speedy recovery.

Thanks Lynne, I was forgetting your association with NZ. It's an Aborigine remedy as well isn't it? The nurse said it was a very high sugar content though I don't know why that should be beneficial to healing.

My grandma always used to make sugar and green soap mixture to use as a poultice. It seemed to work when all else failed fpr a variety of complaints.
Manuka grows commonly in the nz bush and in Australia-it's really pretty when in flower.
Cheers, Noel.

I had heard of Manuka honey, but didn't know it was made from pollen of the Tea Tree. My former yoga teacher used to swear by it for its healing properties. I hope Margaret continues to make good progress, Noel - she's been through the mill with her foot this last few weeks.
