Hi
Just joined. I'm wracking my ageing brain to remember the name that the Fox pub used to be back in 1983 ish. It was a great pub and i've so many fantastic memories of this place but i'm sure it wasn't called the Fox then.
Please help
Jules

Where is it? Although I wasn't much of a pubber before we emigrated in 1968 (strict Methodist upbringing), I do remember a lot of the older Leyland landmarks. My family have been Leylanders from my great-grandfather's time.

I'm not a pub goer either but there is a Fox and Lion pub I think by Leyland Cross.

It was indeed the Bay Horse and was originally a Lion Ales pub, the brewery was in Blackburn. When I was a teenager in the late sixties we used to have what we called a 'sally' round the pubs on saturday night.
Starting at the Ship Inn, then the George, then the Bay Horse, the Roebuck, followed by the Eagle and Child, and the Trades hall before heading back to the Ship for last orders, and fish and chips from across the road, its still there.
I don't know how we did it but it was a regular event in my wayward yooth. The entertainment varied from juke boxes to individuals singing for a pint, and the occasional class act in the Trades hall.

We all did pretty much the same in the early eighties!!!! Great pubs and decent folk. Plus the chips from that chippy were the best. Try asking for chips, scraps, peas and gravy in a chippy down here in Milton keynes!!!![:0]
Thanks for the info. My memory isn't what it used to be. I also read about the downfall of the Leyland Festival!!! What a shame as that used to be such a highlight and usually around my birthday too. Hope they bring it back one day.
