The coming of Spring
#1
Saturday was the "official" first day of spring. I can't remember who the poet was, but I remember the poem:

Spring has sprung, the grass is riz
I wonder where the birdies is.

The bird is on the wing, they say, but that's absurd
because the wing is really on the bird.

Well, spring has definitely "Sprung". Today was fluffy cumulus, blue skies and a high around 55F. Tomorrow, more of same but a high pushing 60. We actually got to 68F a couple of days ago.

Friends have spent the winter in Mexico (Puerto Vallarta) and they've had much worse weather than we have! Their ground-floor condo has been flooded twice! At least the rain down there has been warmer!

The grass sure has "riz". I've already had the mower out twice!

I envy you your spring and the advent of summer. We are getting darker and darker in the mornings and nights and the chilly mornings are reminding us to get cracking with the fuel supplies for winter. I do though think it is more interesting to live in seasonal latitudes than the monotonous equatorial regions which the same year round except for wetter or drier seasons.

It's warming up here too, though I thought 21st March was the first day of spring. My neighbour has mowed his lawn twice already. I think he panics if the blades of grass get higher than 0.125", or so it seems. No-one else has yet mowed. Next weekend we move the clock time on an hour so it's going to be light much later.

Yes, Noel - this weekend I'll be another year older AND the clocks going forward means that I lose another hour's sleep! Life's just not fair for the poor old girl!

Daffodils are coming through now and trees are budding here in Southern Ontario where we,ve experienced the warmest winter on record - and that's fine to us !
Our clocks went forward one hour last weekend .

Cheek! But I'm still young at heart, that's the main thing - not a nip, tuck or Botox in sight...
