Leyland Homecoming 2010
#1
Celebrating the remarkable history of this worldwide known town, the Leyland Homecoming draws together family fun, music, entertainment, a charity run, shopping, heritage walks and much more, not forgetting a major transport festival, guided factory tours, and the annual Leyland Society Gathering.
This two day event will attract over 100 classic vehicles of all shapes and sizes reflecting about 100 years of vehicle manufacture in the UK. A cavalcade of vehicles will parade through the town centre on the Saturday and then create a series of static exhibitions around the town. In addition the British Commercial Vehicle Museum will be displaying its collection of 63 vehicles and hosting two important exhibitions telling the story of the diesel engine and also the early development of the M6. Both exhibitions are both important historically, and tell the story of social change. On the Sunday the Leyland Society Gathering attracts vehicles from across Europe who return to the home of that great marque.
