Well I didn't want to mention the rugby as the loss here is still a sensitive issue and postmortems have not yet finished.
Have lived in Godzone for 45 years but have to say that it is not my game of choice. However I mananged to keep my peepers open till well after Midnight to watch a nail biting game . Well done the English team! It was brilliant to see so many flags of St George in evidence. LG

Well I do like Rugby, it's a far better game to watch than football in my opinion. And the lad who lives in Leyland scored the try in the final. JASON ROBINSON.
LEYLAND rugby hero Jason Robinson is set to be honoured by his home town following his winning performances for England in the World Cup. Father-of-three Jason, 29, went down in the record books after scoring England's only try in the 20-17 final victory over Australia in Sydney. Nicknamed Billy Whizz after his exceptional turn of pace, the Sale Sharks RUFC winger notched his 15th try for England during a magnificent first half. His incredible efforts were celebrated by fans in Leyland along with supporters up and down the country. South Ribble Council now intend to recognise Jason's achievements and have invited him to a civic ceremony. A spokesman for South Ribble Council said: "Jason played really well and deserves some recognition from his home town. "We have written to Jason to invite him to a big civic reception in Leyland, so that the people of Leyland can pay tribute to him. "We hope that he will accept our invitation." Plans for the civic reception have been backed by South Ribble MP David Borrow, who said: "Like millions of others I was glued to the box on Saturday morning. "For someone local like Jason it is tremendous and I am sure that he will get the recognition he deserves both nationally and from the local community over the next few months." Jason returned home yesterday with his family, wife Amanda and their three children Cameron, Jemimah and Lewis. He travelled home on an early morning shuttle from London and was whisked away from Manchester Airport. He was unavailable for comment at his home yesterday where the gates remained closed as he enjoyed a well deserved day's rest following the 24-hour flight from Sydney. Dave Swanton, media director at Sale Sharks RUFC, congratulated Jason just hours after England clinched victory down under and believes he is a hero to many youngsters in the area. He said: "Jason rung me just after the final whistle in Sydney and I congratulated him. It's a fantastic achievement for him and he described it as the high point of his rugby career. He deserves everything he gets because he is a winner. We are now expecting a big crowd at Sale Sharks on his first game back." Jason is expected to make his first start on Saturday December 6 when the Sharks take on Cardiff at Edgeley Park, in Stockport. Born-again Christian Jason is well known in Leyland and is a regular churchgoer. The 5ft 7in winger started out in Rugby League and was a hero at Wigan Warriors before switching to Union in October 2000. |
