Bob Bamford 1938 - 2012

Bob sadly passed away on 14 January, aged 74. Committal is at Southport Crematorium at 10.00 on Wednesday, 25 January, followed by a memorial service at 11.00 at St. Michael's Croston.
Bob was well-known and well-respected throughout Leyland Motors, especially Spurrier Works, where he spent most of his working life. Trained as an Engineer, he spent many years in Engine Proving and Development Dept, where he played a key part in ensuring the worldwide success of Leyland Engines. He eventually moved into production as Manager over Engine Assembly.
He survived the DAF debacle and became Quality Manager in Albion Automotive, where he helped ensure that the infant company achieved accreditation to the ISO Quality standard.
He subsequently took over as Manager Axle Assembly at Farington until his retirement.
