Leyland Motors Ladies
#1
Hi all,

The British Commercial Vehicle Museum has got an exhibition of the Leyland Ladies calendars from Leyland Motors, and I'm planning on running a feature in the Guardian in the next couple of weeks.

Just wondering if you have any memories of them so I can include some comments from former workers, or even from relatives of the ladies themselves?

If you wouldn't mind including your real names, that'd be helpful.

Thanks Smile

My Mum, Jessie Rukin then, now Jessie Threlfall (and just turned 96), was a typist (etc?) at the Motors about mid 1930's. Does that make her a candidate?!
Enjoying the ex-pat stories - met up with Sandie Cowan when passing thru Blenheim a few weeks ago - not at all Hippie-like now but i can well imagine both her and husband Pete having "been there and done that"!

Yes I would love to speak to your mum - does she have a contact number please?

Email me at [email protected] if you like.

Thank you.
