Thanks Noel, it was the early 1950s when I was taken there and I`m begining to wonder if it was Chorley Old Rd or Chorley New Rd. maybe it was Overdale, this family tree thing is so addictive I`m trying to look up records that I never even thought of before.
I hope your wife is doing well after her surgery. best wishes Sandieh

Sandie, Can`t help you with the cemetery I`m afraid, but as geneology is my hobby I would be glad to do some `look-ups` for you if you need them. I`ve got the 1881 census on CD`s etc.

Genealogy is so addictive.I started tracing my father's family roots some years ago-found a 'half'family who had been living in Leyland for many years-even a half cousin the same age as myself of whom I had no knowledge.
Also found that my great grandmother had been in service at Lathom Hall and eventually housekeeper to the then Lord Lathom.
Apart from that no real skeletons.
Got back to London in 1780 and there the trail disappeared.
As well as the satisfaction of finding your background there is also the sense of history along the way.

Lady G, `Addictive`, certainly sums it up. Although I was born in Preston, we have lived in Leyland for nearly 40 years now. Imagine the delight when my genealogy reserch led to evidence of my Great-Grandmother being born in Leyland.
