No, I didn't think so either. Broadband for us would be £10 a month more than we're paying for dial-up and would mean changing ISP, which is a major hassle as I use my current e-address for business purposes and it's on all the publicity stuff. So fo the time being we're hanging fire. At the moment our connection speed seems pretty good, though sometimes in the evening pages can take longer to open...... which is usually when I decide to quit! <g>Hey, d'you think they give the southerners the cheap phone deals because they can't afford anything more after what they have to pay for their houses? How anyone affords a mortgage down there beats me!

Noel, We took up Telewest broadband at the beginning of the year and wondered why we hadn`t done it ages ago. My advise would be -- don`t hesitate, go for it. A dial-up download (taking an hour)is completed in minutes. I have been a member of a geneology chat room for several years and am never ever cut off. With dial-up, I always had to re-enter several times per session.

Martin, There is something I have never experienced in this forum before. On many occasions recently, I click on a forum and get the `page cannot be displayed`, message. However, a second click displays it. I only mention this because when I have had this message in the past I have gone elsewhere. The moral is, keep trying -- the pages ARE there.

I have had this message quite a few times. I always reload or refresh the page and it usually loads the second time. I just think the server times out too quickly sometimes.

I get that frequently as well recently. Maybe the internet fairy is trying to get us to convert to broadband.

Me too, but only in the last few weeks. I'm persistent enough not to be deterred by it!
