Energy firms 'slow' on refunds

More than 800 people in the North West are forced to wait months for refunds on their energy bills, says a consumer watchdog.
On average each of the 835 customers in the region who are owed money, are waiting to receive up to £350, according to energywatch.

energywatch says complacent firms should pay interest to customers.

No surprise really. I switched my electricity bills over to British Gas when I was living in Glastonbury. It was the worst thing I could do. They cocked the whole process up, from start to eventual finish. I am certain that they overcharged me, but they told me that I owed them and they would kindly write it off as they couldn't prove anything either way. The customer service was the worst I have come across so far..... I could go on!

Martin, I was with North East Gas on a dual fuel tariff and made a change to Scottish because they offered a better deal. After a short time I got a call from North-East asking me if I was going back to British Gas. When I said "No" they said they were very pleased as it would be a very bad move on my part to go to B.G. I`ve since heard of lots of people with B.G. who can`t get away from them quickly enough. I`m continually being pestered with B.G. and when I showed them actual figures, they admitted that they could not compete on prices or service. Leave well alone! William R.
