Good job too.

I suspect that the problems I got stuck with, trying to get back on board, might have discouraged a lot of members. Despite my computing background, which goes back to assembly language programming on Honeywell computers that still used ranks of transistors rather than microprocessors, I had to get help from Martin to get my old username and posting history restored
For those of you with computing background, you may be interested in my first programmer job. I worked with Boeing's crew training 747-200 simulator. It simulated all the airplane systems (hydraulics, electrical, air conditioning and pressurisation), along with a full flgiht deck instrumentation simulation, including the flgiht engineer's console. It had all the US west coast radio navaids, including their Morse code identifiers coming over the radios and a full weather simulation with thunderstorms, wind shear and other "nasties". At least we didn't have to simulate rain on the windscreen and the wipers, as we didn't have an "out-of the window" visual system. That came much later in my career. This all ran on a dual-processor Honeywell computer with, in modern terms, 256Kbytes of memory. It ran at 30Hz (not KHz or MHz), though we used the old-fashioned term "cycles per second". Programming was done in assembly language and converted to binary by another computer. We trained thousands of airline people on that old bird. My job was to keep the airplane up to date with the latest additions and innovations that were being delivered. I'm not sure how many folk are still working that could write programs in Honeywell assembler!

As Frank was the last person to contact me with logging in issues, I'm assuming that no one else has the same problem. As I've said before, if people are having issues logging in please email me to sort it out.

That was my problem when my username and password were refused time and time again.
There was no way I could contact anybody it seemed. Eventually I did find somewhere where I could email, which I did, but nobody replied! It was only after I had one last go after a couple of weeks of trying that suddenly I managed to get in. I'm sure there must be members floating round in the ether who just can't break through the barrier.

We will be contacting members soon to let them know that the forum is back. I'm testing the mailing software first.

I think you will probably scoop a few more stray members that way!
