Electric Scooters
#1
After almost being hit several times by people using electric scooters on the pavements I have to ask one question " As the average walking speed is approx 3mph or 5kph is iit not sensible to fit a speed restrictor"

Do you mean restrict the walker or the scooter?

My pet hate is cyclist on footpaths, surely it's illegal isn't it? I've no gripe with young kids cycling on the path as it's far safer for them, but middle aged blokes??? In London I was nearly flattened by a big black bloke hurtling towards me on one and he just shouted " get out of the way" as he missed me by inches.

A sharp kick at the front wheel, towards the street, would solve the problem!

One cyclist crashed into a pedestrian on Wigan Road near to the garage there ( the one in the dip just before Leyland Gold Club. The pedestrian was seriously injured taken to hospital with head injuries. I blame the local councils who have put out vague recommendations re cycling on footpaths.

Riding on the pavement is compulsory in Perth, and the problem is that Aussies cannot perform an activity unless they wear the full regalia, the problem with wearing the full regalia is that they feel the need to compete and consequently they are riding at full tilt on the pavement weaving through pedestrians.

You must be talking about the lycra louts. The ones who always look angry and ride around at full speed everywhere they go.

The Tour of France starts this weekend in Yorkshire. The roads are filled with lycra clad cycleists this time of year all wearing team colours riding two and three abrest if you are driving you need extra care. Hopefully by the end of July the novelty will have warn off and half of them will have given it up.

Hi Audrey

It is legal to ride on the pavement in Perth "with caution", as decreed by the City Council. They have set the place up with cycle paths everywhere so you can commute by bike, but the cycle paths end at the City and the cyclists have to get to work, hence the pavements, because the drivers are less considerate than the cyclists and you wouldn't risk your life riding a bike on the road - vicious spiral of failure - bad drivers and bad cyclists = danger for pedestrians.

Regards

Peter
