The photographs are brilliant, but err, err, where are they ?? Clear as mud !!!
I agree with the Burnley fans. On the photographic evidence, there was clearly NO PENALTY.
Then again, just read what you wrote....the Burnley fans sitting 100 yards away...100 yards !! That would put them on Mooor Park man. And you ONLY FIVE yards away ??? So your seat is actually on the pitch ??? They have to dribble around your seat to be able to make the centre ?? Who do we believe here gang ??? Noel, let me guess, you are a reporter for the Lancashire Evening Post. I should have known ;-)))......
Burnley boss Steve Cotterill
"It was not a penalty. I can't support that decision.
"The first thing Billy did when we shook hands was say 'never a penalty'.
My goodness, even the North End manager agrees there was no penalty !

Ah David, we can't beat you. ( More's the pity ;-) ). According to Steve Coterill Billy Davies said that. When interviewed Billy Davies said he didn't know whether it was a penalty or not. Football pitches are 100-130 yards long by 50-100 yards wide. Lewis was brought down right on the edge of the goal line, Burnley supporters were at the far end now let me work out this complicated mathematical calculation, ..... pitch minimum 100 yards, Lewis fouled right on edge at one end, Burnley supporters at opposite end, = 100 yards minimum of pitch, plus a bit further to get into where they were sat, umm now what did I say, over a hundred yards away, let me see,....... yup, over 100 yards away. I was right first time one hundred yards away. Steve Coterill and Billy Davies were more or less on the half way line 50 yards away. I was sat in the corner of the pavilion stand.
I'll post the link AGAIN![:p]

Noel, I am quite intrigued by this thread. According to Pythagoras you must have only been 4 yards from the pitch.
5 yds from your eye to the incident, 3 yards from the ground (sitting in the stand) that leaves only 4 yards from the base of the stand to the pitch. (5sq = 4sq + 3sq). I never knew that this game was so technical [:p][:p][:p]

I wish I'd said 10 yards Jim. [Big Grin]

Noel; The link you posted was to register for the North End page ???
I believe the North End pitch is the required minimum 60 yards wide for that particular division. All penalty areas are 44 yards wide, which would leave 8 yards either side of the penalty area to the edge of the pitch. If you were 5 yards away, you were therefore, a minimum of 3 yards on the pitch, more even if the pitch is wider !! You can't argue with figures ;-)) I've said it before..."North Enders, I ask you"
Noel, right or wrong, the important thing is, North End got three valuable points. ;-)))))

Noel, At least, it`s all good clean fun and that you know you are not being `got at`.

Fingers crossed -we can repeat last seasons feat and `Hammer the Hammers` next Saturday.

This is a real `six pointer`. We could end up either one point behind them or five in front.

I made a boo boo about my distance , more like 15 yards when I checked it using the Lostock Hall pitch. However I was a darn sight nearer than the 2,000 or so Clarets who were singing 1-0 to the referee. When you consider the last home game and how the ref missed the blatant hand ball, it makes me wonder, as Rolf Harris said.
The link I gave works alright my end, can't understand it unless it recognises I am a memember and when anyone else clicks on who isn't a member it expects them to register first.
North Enders, yes whae's like us. :-)--

I enjoy a good bit of banter Jim. I can take it and dish it back. West Ham are looking a much better side than a couple of months ago when they were at Deepdale. I've always not liked them ever since 1964.

Noel, I have TWO good reasons. The first is 1964 and the second is that all my wife`s relations live there!
