Don't know if you or other ex pats saw it Dave on TV but it was totally embarrassing sums up the depths to which some have succumbed.

Apparently, a lot of people bought flat screen TV sets they didn't really need, with the intention to sell them on eBay at regular retail. They're not getting any offers. Serves the silly b's right!

Yes, Sandy it originated in the US, since it's the day after Thanksgiving Day, and usually a day off work (except for the workers at the stores) as part of a 4-day weekend. As far as I can remember, it started about 15 years or so ago. All the major US retail chains have special prices that day, but I'm not sure which was the first.
