When the Boston Red Sox won the World Series, (and now you will always know that it is called the WORLD series because the very first series was sponsored by the New York World newspaper), it was considered the breaking of the Babe Ruth curse. Babe Ruth, considered the best baseball player ever, was playing for the Red Sox when they last won the Series back in 1918. After winning the Series, the Red Sox owner sold Ruth to the New York Yankees to get money to promote a stage play, which failed at the box office. The Yankees with Ruth went on to win the Series a record 27 times, while the Red Sox just couldn't seem to win that final game.....for 86 years the Curse haunted them. After winning this year, the N.Y. Yankees put a full page ad in the Boston Globe saying....See You Again in 2090....86 years away...[Big Grin][Big Grin]

What I meant was that since 1918 when they bought Babe Ruth, they have won the World Series 28 times, while the Red Sox hadn't won it at all. Sorry 'bout that, didn't mean to mislead you.

Oh OK, I didn't understand. I thought maybe baseball players had a much longer career than other sportsmen.
