Yeah - we had the snail mail version come into work about 2 years ago. But, according to Radio 4, people do fall for them and give their bank account details.....

There's a scheme going around Somerset right now, it's mainly aimed at women. You 'gift' a sum of money to a club and then get three of your friends to do the same. After so many levels, you get a pay out, the problems start when there's not enough money in the kitty to pay the people at the bottom... It's just another pyramid but people are greedy and soon forget.

Yes..... a letter purporting to come from a govt official in Nigeria saying he needed to get funds out of the country and needed UK bank account details to pay it into.... Yeah, right! Needless to say, we filed it under 'bin'!
