Noel and Shelagh, the crowds at the tests and one dayers are consistently good, especially in the lagrer cities, Sydney and Melbourne. Most of the grounds have a famous (infamous?) area where there is much humour and drinking, including as you said Noel the Sydney Hill, and the scoreboard hill at the Adelaide Oval in my home town. Incidentally, the Adelaide Oval is a very beautiful ground and is considered by many well travelled commentators to be the most picturesque in the world.

Dave, I've visited friends in Adelaide (driven the Grand Prix circuit) and Melbourne (toured the MCG!) Two great cities and exceptionally friendly people. And, yes, Adelaide is picturesque!

Shelagh, I used to work near the grand prix track in Adelaide and although I 'm not interested in car racing, the party mood during the four days of the event was really something else! I've been to the MCG a few times to see Aussie Rules games and the atmosphere is tremendous. It is considered the premier sporting arena in Oz.
I also visited your website recently and would like to wish you well in your writing ventures.

Thank you. I'm expecting the proofs anyday now and looking forward to publication!
What about the match in Bloemfontein!!!!!! You couldn't write the script! This series just gets better and better.

I spoke too soon!
Still, I think England did us proud and revived a lot of interest in International cricket. The one day series only confirmed everyone's opinion that the Aussies will be difficult to beat at home. Can't wait!

I always think after a long tour to have the 1 day games right at the end when the major part of the tour has been achieved and the players are keen to get home, is a mistake. I think the Aussies will win the series but not a whitewash like last time.

I'm a little late with this but WOW!! wasn't Freddie Flintoff brilliant in the second test? Cricket just doesn't get any more exciting than this!

And we should be proud of him Shelagh, a Preston lad, went to Ribbleton secondary school, now renamed, his parents still live in Fulwood. His brother by the way plays for Penwortham and is frequently a top scorer as well. Wouldn't it be great if we had a 2nd Flintoff making the grade. |
