Isle of Man TT
#1
Just a few weeks now to the World famous Isle of Man TT.

The Television full of it.
All the practice races shown.
Live coverage of every afternoon race.
All our local and National newspapers with pages of TT News.
Worldwide satellite programmes to all countries.
After all, it is the best closed road motorbike event in the world.

...So what will we hear and see about it ?

Nowt !! not a sausage !!
a few seconds at the end of Granada Reports, if a local man is killed.
What an absolute disgrace.

My son's going to live over there in 2 weeks time, working outside Douglas. I'll be getting extensive news as his work place is on the circuit, they can't go home after work until the last race of the day ends. Agree wholeheartedly with your comments.

Interesting that noel, he'll be just in time. In the mid-60's I worked on the Island and a short walk from our house, after work, and I watched races and practices at the bottom of Bray Hill, wonderful days !!
.... wouldn't mind a day trip in June to watch a race, but with having Parkinson's it's just a pipe-dream.

Topendadunirk - you live on Dunkirk Lane, right? And have done for how long?
Just interested to see if I know you or your family.
I used to live at the smithy many moons ago.

I know a man who lives on Dunkirk Lane and has Parkinsons. One and the same , I wonder?

Magicman, I fully agree with your comments regarding the TT races. I vividly remember going to watch them in the 50`s. Overnight sail from Fleetwood with 100`s of motorbikes filling the decks. My favourite vantage spot was Hillbury - - - - happy days!!!

"One and the same , I wonder?."..yes Spitfire, I wonder too?

"live on Dunkirk Lane, right? And have done for how long?"..... not very long. Is the Smithy a B&B now ? I live not too far from there.

I don`t think that the Smithy is still a B&B (but don`t quote me on that). I had a friend who worked at the prison and he stayed there many times.

Broadcast all over the world ?? I've lived in the US for more than forty years, never ever heard a thing about it. Not even on the sports news. I wish I could record it because it is as quoted...the best road race in the world.
God Bless Geof Duke, and the rest of 'em.

Correct David, I've a number of American e-mail pals who are into the 2 wheeled machines and never heard of the Manx TT Races. God bless Joey Dunlop while we're at it.
