I don't think it should be swept under the carpet. I'm quite sure that there is a large network of drug suppliers and users in Leyland.
What do you do with these people, has the semi legalisation of soft drugs helped or made things worse?
I think the worst issue with drugs is that more young people are now taking them. The younger you are when you take drugs, the more chance of having mental health problems later on in life.
More police on the streets would be a start.

Not soft drugs but Herion are you so blind
Police on the streets thats good but the dealers and the runners dont do that.
Then change it fight back kiss and tell, shame them, tell someone, report them, try to stop it.
thats the law for 100 years sometings do not change, silly or what!

Drugs have never been part of my scene. A son of mine did temporarily smoke cannabis, it took us a long time to find out and my wife went absoltely bananas when she found out. He's clean now but atthe time he and his pal wouldn't reveal where they got the stuff, they claimed they would get their legs broken which seemd a bit OTT for a mild drug such as cannabis.
Watching a TV program about a young woman in Chelsea, last night who lived with her mother on the 17th floor of an apartment block, her life was absolutely screwed up with crack cocaine, she came off the drug when she was sentenced to 2 years in prison and came out looking really in good health, she'd gone from a 6 stone spotty dopey druggy to a 12 stone cleam complexion, oozing good health, in the 1 year she actually served, vowing she would stay clean and be a good mother to her 2 young children.
Within 24 hours of release she was back at it. An early death beckons.

I think the best we can do is make sure that we stay away from drugs ourselves and be good role models for those around us. We can also spread the message on our own network of family and friends. If I discovered that someone I knew was affected by drugs abuse I would try to give all the support I could. Fortunately, the people in my life have not, to my knowledge, been affected by the drugs culture. Some might say that I am very fortunate but sometimes this is all we can do in life - make life as good as possible for all those with whom we come into contact.
Regards to all,
Brian
