American Soldiers
#31
Linda; The detonation point is well above ground level. It just wipes out almost everthing from ground level up. We'll still get the oil.
I'm beginning to wonder about the 'so called factions', there seems to be quite a few on this thread [?]

Noel, your hatred of America, Americans and all things American is clear from all your entries. This is fine by me, you have that right. What I don't understand is why it's o.k. to knock the U.S. at every opportunity, but completely taboo to knock anyone else. Who made these rules? Plenty of countries, including European, make just as many mistakes.
The U.S. contributes more financially to the world than all other countries combined but is hated for it. Indeed, the U.N. and Nato would'nt exist without U.S. cash. I would suggest that the U.S. stop all financial aid to everyone for a year and see how the rest of the world handles it. Where is China in all this? Fast becoming the worlds richest nation but contributes next to nothing to needy countries.
Arms sales is China's contribution to world misery but is never rebuked for it. Human rights in China is a joke, but nobody complains. Check next time you buy something, virtually everything comes from China nowadays, which further supports the Chinese regime. They have no intention of changing anything.

John, I would like to respond and comment on your posting, and firstly would like to say your second paragraph to me is 'Right on the Money' and, would also like to see just how these Countries and their people would manage without the huge donations of cash and aid, and if it had been down to me, it would have been stopped years ago! Most of the money in any case, is syphoned off by the militia, despot governments or groups to buy arms that do little good by way of feeding or securing the long term future of its people, but rather it is used to blow each other to pieces, and destroy what bit of civilisation that does exist on a regular basis. America and Britain did'nt appear by magic, they were built over generations by the blood, sweat and tears of its people, in a like minded environment, sharing common values and a common faith, not by ethnic minority groups continually in-fighting and blowing everything up around themselves once ever six months or so, and would have thought our governments would have realised and learned some lessons from these facts, but, sadly, that appears not to be the case, by the influx of any Tom, Dick or Harry into our midst, bringing values and cultures so different from our own, that will without any question of doubt eventually lead to our own demise. This has already started, and is there for all to see, if the so called 'Do-Gooders' would but open their eyes and look, and it will such people - like William R said - that have in the main championed this situation, and that will without any doubt be the first to chant 'Why did you let it Happen'
John, to me, American and British lives are very important, we share much, and as you said, we are hated by these people, and I fear nothing that we ever do will ever change that fact, and cannot see the point in throwing away the lives of good American or British soldiers, on a cause or a people that neither want our help, need it, and indeed hate us for giving it. If they want to build a Good Stable Country and a civilised Society for themselves, let them build it - 'We Did!!'

I agree with much of what you have written John but extremely puzzled why you think I hate America? I don't like your presidents policies, not just on Iraq but on global warming issues ( he doesn't have any. Global warming isn't happening. [B)]) and on capital punishment as well.It is wrong to take life and punishment should be no more severe than life imprisonm. Hate is not a word in my vocabulary. Just because I don't embrace your right wing views doesn't mean I "hate" America. Accept that others have views differing to yours on certain issues. We can't all agree on everything, what a boring place the world would be. America has more philanthropists than anywhere else in the world quite apart from the aide that the government supplies to many parts ofthe world. So let's get that right. I don't approve of my own government's running of our country and I am angry that certain militants and undesirables have been allowed into our country. But I don't "hate" the country. I fly my St. George's Cross with pride. As long as the football team keeps winning.[Wink]

Well Noel if you don't hate America you do a good job of letting people think you do. Capital pushishment is bad but if I had a child or anyone brutally mudered I would want the culpit to leave this earth not to languish in prison with 3 meals a day cable television and some do gooder coming along trying to say that the person responsible has a mental problem or that he or she was cruelly treated as a child and having his sentence reduced. We have a man in Florida who kidnapped a nexdoor neighbours 7 year old daughter held her in his house raped her then buried her alive. I want him to suffer as she suffered.
As you all know we are moving back to the UK in a few months our daughter is coming with us. She got on to a UK website and started chatting about the US. She was horrified as to how much people in the UK hate Americans and it worries her that people will not like her once she gets to the UK. I must say that while in the US I have nothing but kindness from people in the US they like people from the UK. People in New Hampshire are not as friendly as people in other parts of the country but that goes for anyone that comes here to live. You have to have been born and bred here to be one of them.

By the way today is was stated during part of his trial that during Saddams years in power he had 200 thousand kurds killed. Not bad for someone who should have been left in power.... and thats just the kurds.

Avril simply because I have a different view to yours does not make me "hate " America. All it means is I have a different view to you. I don't know why some of you lot are so prickly about criticism of US policy but believe me Avril you wil have to get used to it if you come back to the UK.

Yes I realize that but it depends on what level it done at. I hope its polite and not rude I find that type of "view" very annoying. My Mother had a saying "I'm telling you this for your own good even if it hurts", trouble is some of those people don't like it when the shoe is on the other foot and you tell them something for their own good. I find it funny how so many UK residents love to dislike America and Americans but can't wait to move here or come for holidays. One of the biggest investors in the US is the UK and they own alot of property here. A different point of view is fine but when its like a stuck record it gets old. I have a very nice husband and daughter and I would hate to think I am bringing them back to a country that is full of people who cannot keeps their comments to themselves just because they happen to been in the company of an "American". Are the muslems used to you telling them what for or is that not politically correct. OK to jump all over the Americans but leave the muslems alone

Avril this is the 1st time I have come across any 'hatred' for America and americans I don't honestly think its common. The Americans tend to be stereotyped as loud and brash till you meet one.But then all countries have their stereotypes,
so don't worry about coming back home.
