Hi William
I sang with the Leyland Motors M.V.Choir for some 15 years but I cant recall anyone by the mame of Jonny Mac.The nearest I can get to that was Jack Macdonald who was a Boilermaker and sang with the Baritones I have some Photos of the Choir and will root them out to see if I can come up with something for you.

Would the 'Johnny Mac' be John MacMullen? [McMullen?]. The John I knew worked at B and R Taylors and BAC design office, and came from the 'Motors' drawing office. When I knew him he sang in a 'Barbershop' singing group. He lived on the road off Church Rd. near to Bent Bridge, Langdale Rd, maybe. Alan Marsden may remember him.

It seems that the Johnny Mac I knew has passed imto history. He used to be a Section Leader in the MOS Jig & Tool D.O. in 1951/52.
Audrey was his friend from the Choir, and I think was clerical.

He didn`t live up Bent bridge way to my knowledge. The Choir used to entertain in the Thurstan Road Canteen at lunch times.

Ah well!!!

WOW!!!!!! We`ve just returned home from a terrific evening. If anyone can beat Leyland Band at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday, then they are going to have to play out of their skins to do so.
Good luck and very best wishes in the judging.
I scanned the audience but didn`t recognise any familiar faces connected to the forum.

I was at the band concert but I didnt recognise anyone from the ForumI looked out for Roy but I didnt see him. I sat on the back row just a few seats away from Dr.John Who conducts the Leyland Choir and by the way I thought it was quite cold but I enjoyed the music

I was approx three rows from the back yes it was cold and the seats were hard. The yellow carnations would have been a good idea
will be rooting for the band today.

Hi William
Re your enquiry about Johnny Mac.I have been speaking to one of your colleages from Jig & Tool aStan Haydock whos wife Joan was in the choir she cannot recall anyone named Audrey and Stan suggested that the Johnny may be a Johnny M.acbrier who came from Ormskirk,he left the Motors to work for a firm jn Ormskirk called Hatterslys Valves.after a time he became the M.D.for the firm.Stan asked who you were but I was unable to give him that information.
Bye for now
