David B:
I just bought a new machine, with XP. I put my old 98SE machine in the kitchen on a wireless network. We have Verizon as our DSL ISP. They provide MSN Premium as the browser.
Everything was working fine at first, but my comoputer didn't have Service pack 2 installed. I installed it, and it blew most of Verizon's software out of the tub. Their anaylser software isn't compatible, so I can't get any on-line help. Their web-site builder doesn't work at all. I get a very brief message in the XP slot for "can't do that, dummy", but it's gone before I can trap it.
On balance, I'd say 98SE was more useful and stable than XP/Sp2. Maybe I shoulda bought a MAC!
