Your right to express your opinions is not in dispute here ,David as you well know, but the tone in which they are put forward is.
Just my opinion.

I have been watching David (the dedicated) having a go at Spitfire for a few postings making it clear that he is a true British Subject, and that from a distance all the ills which befall us can be solved by argument.
As David (the dedicated) is so much a "dyed in the wool" British Subject , can I ask a very simple question of him "Having lived so long in the United States, does he adopt the same belligerent attitude towards his fellow Americans, as he shows on the Forum"?? Perhaps it is safer to be critical from a distance than to enter into a face to face encounter with his near neighbours? Putting it rather more bluntly "Good fault finders shouild be good fault menders", so why not try to be less of a "stirrer" and more of a person of whom we can say "He could always find faults, and was prepared to do something to correct them." Sadly, in my opinion, we are not at that point yet.

Why is everyone calling Cllr Green "Cllr Green"? Surely Michael would be more appropriate in the modern world of local government. Hey, let's build bridges not walls.
As for the issue at point. I will give this some perusal and serious thought and then make a decision, but not before.

Cllr Michael Green is the name he used as a pseudonym for the forum. Strictly speaking we should call him Cllr Michael Green but the Michael get's dropped.
Welcome to the forum Snappy Joe.

I can only speak for myself and perhaps being older than some, was taught in the old school. If a person reaches a certain position by hard work and study etc. then I treat them with the respect that attainment deserves. I always call my dentist `Mr.` although he is half my age and likewise to doctors and even councillors. I continued to call my relatives uncle and aunt although I was well into my 60`s. However, my neice`s son (who is 8), calls me by my Christian ( sorry - my first name - for all you atheists out there) and everyone thinks it`s `cool` to do so. How times change. For the better?????? Definitely not. The lack of respect and the problems that brings are all around us.

I was born and raised in Preston and lived there for many years, I also lived in South Ribble, I still have family living in both boroughs, I spend at least a month a year in Preston, and visit Leyland quite often, so perhaps I have more interest in what is going on in those two boroughs than you have. Be sure to let us know next time you are going to visit Preston and Leyland and I will arrange to be somewhere else.

Originally posted by Spitfire As I mentioned earlier David, I cannot see what your views are supposed to achieve on this subject - being an American. I think it`s fair to say that (to my knowledge), nobody has critized the elected local politicians in Pomana nor would they presume to have the right to do so. Lynne; I'm afraid I found Spitfires post to me to be rather patronizing. I have every right in the world to pass my opinion on politics, and politicians, no matter which country they involve, never mind my birthplace. If Spitfire and anyone else wishes to comment on Pomona's elected officials...go ahead...but of course Pomona is of no iterest to most Lancastrians is it ? But Preston is still very much a part of my heritage so I try to keep in touch with what is happening in that part of the world. I refuse to bury my head in the sand. Rosie; I do believe we are coming back over for Christmas this year. I hope you weren't planning anything in Leyland over the holidays ???

That's just your opinion Snappy Joe. We don't all hold the same view.

Well Jim, I've just been told I am redundant and the liquidator is coming in at 3pm to hand out formal notices to 100 of us. To me that is something to really get upset about particularly at Christmas time.
