Well it's said that any re-action, even negative re-action, provoked by so called 'Art'is better than none, Alan.
Look after your blood pressure though. [8D]

I had my own bedtime rant over art last night, only in this case it was daughter's art coursework which had to be completed by today. Of course she'd left it till the last minute and was up till gone 1am. I was fuming and ended up unable to get to sleep myself. I should practise what I preach!

So the iron men have migrated to London now.Has anyone seen them yet! Lots of Gormley look- alikes standing sentinel over the rooftops still inviting conflicting responses.

On our recent visit to London my wife and I took an evening dinner cruise on the Thames from the embankment, an enjoyable evening's experience down to Greenwich and back . The meridian is prominently displayed using a green laser beam ,most impressive , we also counted perhaps fifteen 'Gormley iron men' prominently positioned on top of buildings adjacent the river, our Cockney ex constable guide knew nothing at all about them , thanks to Noel and this forum we were able to explained this London art experience !

Welcome back Alan, I think Doctor Who addicts could probably relate to the iron men ( Cyber Men)

Pleased to hear that you enjoyed the Thames Experience ,Alan.
I understand that there are 31 of the casts which are part of an exhibition at the Hayward Gallery. Called 'Event Horizon' one of the many interesting exhibits among many is 'Blind Light' been seen on TV recently-a luminous large glass room filled with thick mist. People walk in disappear and emerge into the light. A bit like the old pea soupers. I would like to go there before it all closes but ! Mind you I have mixed feelings about modern art-much of it appears to be a huge con and leaves me cold. For example the Damien Hirst 'pickled bits' and butterfly wings etc. Then again the Impressionists were rubbished at the time so what do I know. I can only say I know what I like.

Welcome back, Alan. The river cruise sounds like a worthwhile experience. I've done that in Paris, but not in London - something to bear in mind for the future.
