I remember when the broadfield pub was leyland council waste paper barn and across was lees corn merchants and Jock neilson deliversd all the corn ETC with horse and cart.the pony pulled the cart all week then won the showjumping at weekend .Jock used to stand up to control the pony which was allways at full gallop.

My ex sister in law lived in that white house across from the pub. I think she sold it a few years ago.

Hi Bernard and welcome to the forum.
I also remember Jock and his cart deliveries, my father (Jimmy Whittle)used to send me there for his pigeon feed, and I got some pigeon peas for my pee shooter too. I used to love the smell of all the fresh grain and hessian sacks it was stored in.
Did you used to live along leyland lane close by in the terraces ? I remember a Bernard form the 50s who I played with but he moved somewhere else.

Yes I also knew Nick he lived some doors from me, we are not related, I used to be friends with his brother Gerald, another brother - Paul still lives local. Last I heard Nick lives in St Annes.
