World's worst forgers
#1
I had a chuckle at an article in this morning's Guardian. Apparently a group of international forgers are being brought to trial and lack of research seems to have been their downfall. They tried to pass £500,000 notes, but Britain has never issued a £500,000 note. Goodness, I remember the difficulty David had when he got saddled with a few £50 notes one time he came back to the UK - can you imagine trying to give the bank teller a note a thousand times larger than that? LOL!
Here's the article:

I got caught with a few £50 notes when I arrived in this country -no trouble changing them at the bank but why print them if they are no use.
Last week I had a one pound coin refused as the shopkeeper said it was an Isle of Man one and there were a lot of them being passed along. Not legal tender here apparently.
Anyway being a good citizen I used it for payment at the next market stall.

They still also issue a £1 note in the Isle Of Mann. Uk currency is accepted there, but Manx has to be changed at a bank or Bureau De Change in the UK.

I once had a newsagent throw a Manx 5p back at me with the words 'I'm not taking that, that's foreign'. So I paid for my Evening Post with a £2 coin and made a point of checking all the coinage given in change.
