Someone must have gone to The Meths Friday evening disco, Northern Soul etc, West Paddock(Leyland Youth Centre)-Jim Green was the man there, Alan was the DJ somtimes or Chunky aka Duncan Brierly, or even The Parish (St Andrews) on a Saturday evening, I know because I wasn't there on my own, I do have a good imagination but I got over imaginary friends when I was 3 years old. So where's the memories of the German exchanges and the visits to Altringcham icerink or Bolton Nevada rollerskating- those coach trips were a revellation to us good girls from St Mary's especially with the boys from Worden around.
Does anyone remember the fair coming too?
I think I may be a bit younger than some of you but not much.

Ah... Altrincham Ice Rink! I was there every Saturday morning for a good two years or more! Took the kids there last autumn and I swear they hadn't redecorated since my last visit circa 76!

Me and Mark watched Hayley and Joanne skating in an ice rink in Kent, they must have done about four laps in the hour and a half they were there. I think we had the best time in the bar.

Aww, Martin - why weren't you skating? I skated with the kids last autumn for the first time in 20 years or more - it's only scary the first circuit!
If you can imagine 20 stone hitting the ice and the shock that causes then you will understand why I preferred being thrashed by a northerner at pool rather than playing twinkletoes

I don't need to imagine it - I've seen it! There were a couple of unstable larger people on the ice when I went - brave folks! Of course, you might not have fallen over, Mark - you might have been a natural! I was really proud that I managed 2 and ½ hours without a tumble (the wet-patch-on-pants look is hard to carry off at my age! LOL!), son proved to be a total natural on his first on-ice outing, but daughter got a very soggy backside and won't go back!
