I always knew it as the last saturday in farington and apparently the workers on hearing cotton had arrived at the station carried it from there. When we walked from St Ambroses we always stopped and sang at Station bridge as well as the top of Mill Street. I walked from being two/three ( my birthdayis the 31st August[
]) untill I left farington. I couldn't believe it when I had a short spell back at St Ambroses to find they had amalgamated their walk with all the other churches in Leyland and the August wlk had gone by the way. I was sorry to have missed the opening of the garden, but didn't know about it till after. I shall be paying it a visit though.
