This is a little bit late.

quote:

Tributes have flooded in for a much loved and respected Leyland councillor who has died after serving the people of the town for 44 years.

Liberal Democrat councillor for St Ambrose ward Neva Orrell died at home in her sleep aged 88.

Neva Orrell was a name that was familiar to me for most of my life. My condolences to her family and friends.

I first met Neva Orrel when I was five years old, she was my first teacher at Leyland Methodist School, my most vivid memory is of how she coached our class of about 30 five year olds for the school concert, she would`nt let any of us shy away I think we were all supposed to be toys in a toy shop (I was a red balloon) Neva Orrell coaxed us all to go up on stage separately and either sing or dance, not a easy task for a teacher with a class of such young children, I next met her in 1973 (22 years later) when she was standing for election and we had a nice long chat, What a wonderful lady she was, I`m sure she will be very sadly missed.
