Hi All,
First post as I found the forum through searching for my question.
I'm wondering if any of you can recommend a quality builder in the Leyland area. I know getting someone reliable who does quality work at a reasonable price is a minefield!
If there are builders who to avoid, then perhaps a DM would be appreciated!
Thanks
B

I have to agree about tradesmen not being very reliable. My mother-in-law had several quotes from roofers for some work but none of them turned up to do the job. We had a similar experience when we moved to our current house, but we eventually found someone who did a good job and we've used him a few times since. Word of mouth is probably the best way to find what you're looking for.

We also have experiences of tradesmen who agreed to do various jobs, who then disappeared off the face of the earth. There was an assortment from fencing, flagging etc. etc.
Once you do find reliable people, you stick with them don't you.
Out of the back of my mind, I seem to remember that Age Concern carry a list of reliable work people of all kinds - obviously this is aimed at the over 55s mainly, but if they have approved the workmen then they should be reliable

If you`d asked me six months ago I could have perhaps helped. Unfortunately , in the meantime, one is emigrating, one is retiring and a third has has serious surgery to his knees.
As Germinal has quite correctly said, once you find them you hang on like grim death to them. I consider myself very fortunate to have let upon such high quality ,dependable tradesmen in recent years as they are as rare as hen`s teeth.

Thanks for all your replies (even though a name wasn't offered up)!
I suppose it's back to the drawing board. I may phone a couple of architects and ask for referrals off them.
Cheers.
