Sorry David, I can`t help you on that one. I also played at that time for a team in Preston (St.Luke`s in the Sunday school league)and we had one fixture in Leyland - St Andrew`s and if I remember correctly (I was living in Preston at that time) it was behind the parish church.
I was about to add a team photo but have realised that my web space is still down on the forum.

Go ahead, tell us all about LRR.
What do you want to know and give me a day to answer
Who ran the club ? When were they formed ? When did they fold ? Name some players. What was their record ?

I remember Red Rose football team in the 1950's. They played on land at the end of Mill Street at Seven Stars. There was a stream running alongside the pitch and I spent many hours as a child playing by the stream and the football field. My father played one game with them when they were short of players. It was the only time I ever saw him play football. One of their supporters ran up and down the touchline all through the game biting his nails.

That pitch sounds more like it. I seem to remember that it was 'just a field', rather than a park. I played on Worden Park as a guest p;ayer for a Leyland team when I was in Leyland coaching the American youth team back in 1981, and that park was much bigger than where the Red Rose played.
But wrighty will get us the facts in a day or two. ;-)

Hi everyone,
I told Noel I would add something to the Forum, I have been reading with interest for months. On the subject of Red Rose they used to play next to Lostock Grove rest home, where the houses are at Seven Stars but have played on Pithc 1 on Worden Park from at least themid60s.Iwas with Leyland Athletic during that period, does any one remember Audrey Malley our Manager, I know she taught at Wellfield though I went to St Marys Royal Ave from 1959-63.
