Noisey old computer
#1
My PC is a few years old and although it works well, it had recently become very noisey. I opened it up and started it up for a few seconds with the CPU fan unplugged. The noise stopped. I unscrewed the fan and took it out. Pealed off the round foil to get access to the center spindle the dropped a few drops of switch cleaner spray. Gave the fan a quick run while still out and all was quieter again. Put everything back together ( I was earthed while working on it)and all is quiet.

Hope this might be of help.

Thanks for the tip and welcome to the forum. If there's ine thing that computers are good at, it's at sucking up dust and they can accumulate a lot of dust over a year or two. The large power supply fan can also become noisey and clogged up. one good idea id to take your pc outside and use a can of compressed air to blow out the dust.

Good suggestion that Martin.
....the best place by far for PC leads and connectors as well as tins of spray and all manner of stuff, is the CPC mail order place in Preston. They have a giant catalogue and also a website and trade counter, anyone can go in.

I have used them for years....I'm now medically retired.
