Why when it's available does sport not make use of the technology that's on offer. Today's thrilling end to the Ashes second Test showed that Kasprovice should not have been given out to give England a 2 run lead. But also during the game numerous other erroneous decisions, Bell given out caught to a ball he didn't hit. Pieterson given out caught when the ball hit his waist then elbow but not his bat. Probably similar bad verdicts against the Aussies ( but who cares [8D]) . Cricket is one sport where you can stop to let the 3rd Umpire make a decision.. he already looks at run-outs, and why not let Hawkeye judge on LBWs, Dicky Bird could cerainly have benefitted from it, the ball had to hit the stumps before he'd give an LBW.

Noel, I fully agree with what you say. The technology is certainly there when Michael Atherton tells us that he is going to turn up the volume on the stump microphone in order to hear what the close fielders are saying to the batsman!

I was tempted to say they hadn't turned up ( he's in the Isle of Man now and had them sent to our address. It's astonishing how popular the Ashes series is.

Yes, my brother is going nuts. All I know is "silly mid off" and "silly mid on" any game that has those calls cannot be serious. I remember when we were on holiday in Rhyl we had to come back a day early so my Dad and brothers could watch the game on tele. It was the one time the weather was beautiful.

I cant remember its name but the Grandfather taught the boy about googlies. I thought it was something made up for the movie. You live and learn. What other mind boggling peice of information can I put into this brain of mine?

There is a particular type of bowling action called a Chinaman.
I think it's a googly bowled by a left hander. Sort that one out, LOL.
Looking at that photo you posted Noel, it looks to me like the cricket players are as idiotic as the Premier League players. Whatever happened to the old fashioned handshake and pat on the back ?
