The latest thing in shoes?

It seems that someone has introduced a range of shoes that tell people quite alot about you, at a party or social event etc.
The shoes have coloured stripes in the pattern, some 1 sripe, some 2, up to six. The customer buys a pair depending on their status. For instance 1 stripe might show that they are single, 2 - married, 3 - divorced etc.

Is that horizontal or vertical stripes? Only horizontal stripes are very fattening - I can't imagine the fat foot look catching on! <g>
